Pre-K Day
Like an irrepressible, inexhaustible toy, she pops up and down, back and forth, in and out of the room. Her flaxen hair, still wet from the shower, swirls as she pirouetes in the hallway, half fearful she'll be reprimanded for being out of bed, more than half too excited to contain herself.
Her words contain no fear, only anticipation. "I can't believe I start Pre-K tomorrow!" she spouts.
Neither can I, sweetie pie, neither can I!

I'm praying for you, Bruce. First days are always tough on me - happy and sad all at once.

Thanks, Scott. It's somewhat easier on me knowing that it will be a good thing for her. She's had almost five years at home with Mama, and the socialization she'll get will be helpful. Also, it's a Christian program, which is important to us.
I have a feeling it will be harder on her mother than on me. She's lending out her little buddy.

I sent my firstborn to school for the first time this year where my wife is teaching. It was difficult for me to watch her walk into the school hand-in-hand with Laura, but it would have been much more difficult seeing her walk in by herself. But, as in all things, the Lord will use even these experiences to continue to draw our daughters to Him.

Scott:
It's tough to let go at all stages of parenthood, but that's part of the job. The trick is to know when and what and how to let go. In any case, God's grace covers us all.
