Grab-bag blogging

So many topics, so little time.

Last night - DATE NIGHT!!!!! Eldest went to a sleep-over birthday party. Youngest spent the night with Grandma and Grandpa. Wonderful Wife and I grabbed some subs and took in SWIII: ROTS. More about that later this weekend.

Also to come: cool summer movies I'd like to see.

Definition: Grab-bag blogging (GBB) happens when there are so many juicy topics to choose from that the blogger just grabs one and writes about it. It's fun. it's juicy. It's yummy. Try it.

GBB topics:

Saddam's shorts.

An apology to Mr. Lucas.

SWIII: ROTS dialogue excerpts screeded.

How George W. Bush is different from Anakin Skywalker.

My thoughts on Dr. James Dobson.

Further thoughts on Koran-gate.

Fallen heroes.

Today in the life of me: Mowing two lawns at some point. Dentist at 10:30-ish. That means short posting to start. Hope to return later.

Okay, I'll grab one before I go. Off the top thoughts on Saddam's shorts.

On the one hand, you have a tabloid newspaper (British, I say old chap.) printing a full-cover picture of the deposed dictator in his tighty-whities. Shameful, simply abhorrent. Uncivilized. We just don't do things like that. It's beneath us.

But let's take a look at the "victim", if you please.

Murderer. Check (do you doubt it?).

Rape rooms. Check.

Using chemical weapons against his own people. Check.

Imprisoned children because they wouldn't come over to the dark side. Check.

Had children shot and killed in large numbers, burried in mass graves with their toys. Check.

Invaded a neighboring country, where his troops raped, pillaged, and terrorized. Check.

Responsible for the disappearance, torture, and/or death of combined hundreds of thousands of Iraqi citizens. Check.

Proudly taught his sons to do the same. Check.

I assume these things are common knowledge and widely accepted as true.

Do you see where I'm coming from? A little perspective is a good thing, don't you think.
